What to see around Prague?
The meeting takes place at Ondrejov and Berchtold castle is located about 10 km from Ondrejov. Therefore, we would like to focus here on recommendations outside Prague, though Prague is easily reachable by train or car. Ondrejov is located close to a beautiful valley of river Sazava with many opportunities for hiking and cycling or even canoyng.
Karlstejn Castle
Castle of king Charles IV, one of the most visited castles in CZ is located south-west from Prague and about 40 minutes by car from Berchtold/Prague. It is also reachable by train from Strancice with S9 and then connecting at Praha Central station with S8 - station is called Karlstejn. Karlstejn castle. There is a nice restaurant close to the castle: U Adama. It is better to make a reservation.
Castle Cesky Sternberk
Catsle Cesky Sternberk is located south-east from Prague/Berchtold, it is quite nice castle reachable by car in about 20 minutes and by train from Strancice with connection in Cercany in about 2 hrs. (very slow local train but beautiful ride along the river Sazava). Cesky Sternberk castle . There are some restaurants in the village but they operate cash only, no credit cards.
Castle Konopiste
Catsle Konopiste is located south from Prague/Berchtold, it is a nice castle with a rose garden and a greenhouse, reachable by car in about 20 minutes. If you take train from Strancice zou continue with S9 to Benesov and then there is a turist transport from the city center to the castle. However, car transportation is easier, Konopiste and a restaurant Stara myslivna
